I.1 Learning Projects

Activist Academy

As part of The Socio-Economic Justice Initiative-MAAN  strategy to Build the accountability and citizen engagement culture, and following the success of the first pilot project of the “Activist Academy” MAAN will develop and implement different cycles of the Academy for cross-regional Lebanese youth, to foster a culture of citizen accountability by building the capacity of young activists through workshops and engagement opportunities with other activists and practitioners.

The greater objective of this project is to build a generation of young citizens, active, knowledgeable and skilled to hold the government accountable and create wider participatory avenues for change in Lebanon through the provision of knowledge, resources, opportunity, and space for youth. The Academy aims to foster and support the participation and leadership of Lebanese young activists and improve their access to local and national networks. Through a series of sessions and workshops, MAAN hopes to place youth in an immersive learning environment by granting them the opportunity to engage with individuals of different socio-economic, sectarian, and regional backgrounds. The Academy aims to activate common citizenship to inspire social accountability, ownership, and strategy in the reform of policies and to guide and support young activists in their grassroot community to become more resilient and sustainable in their accountability pursuit.

After each cycle of the Activist Academy MAAN will be guiding and supporting the participants in organizing learning activities on the district level to transfer the knowledge and tools they have gained in the Academy.
